Entry & Funding
ENTRY
Entry to the College is by audition only. Applicants should complete and return an application form together with the required photographs and audition fee. On receipt of the application form, candidates will be offered an audition date and requested to confirm that date. Auditions are held regularly throughout the year, but you are advised to apply early if you are applying for an award. There is a cut off date for award applicants. Please see the current audition dates.
Audition
The auditions are taken in two sections. The first will consist of a ballet class and a jazz class. Candidates will also be assessed in singing and acting. A physiotherapist will also observe the ballet class.
Ballet - You will be expected to wear the correct dancewear for the ballet class. Pointe shoes will not be required.
Jazz - You will be expected to wear suitable dancewear for the Jazz class.
Singing - You will be expected to perform a song of your choice. It is an audition requirement that auditionees do not sing unaccompanied so please ensure that you bring with you taped accompaniment or the appropriate sheet music.
Drama - Direction will be given on the day. You will not need to prepare in advance.
At this stage, you may be given an examination by our chartered physiotherapist and have an interview with the directors. Finally, applicants that satisfy our physiological criteria may be offered, in writing, a place at the College and asked to complete and return a registration form. Upon receipt of the registration form a place will be reserved for that applicant. Please note that audition fees are non-refundable.

FUNDING
Dance and Drama awards
The Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA) are scholarships funded by the Learning and Skills Council. They are awarded by schools to the students who display the most potential to succeed in the profession. Only students taking an approved Trinity College London qualification will be eligible to apply for an award. These courses last between one and three years and are at National Diploma or National Certificate level. Awards offer greatly reduced tuition fees and access to an income-assessed student support fund.
For further information about the awards and eligibility, please visit the DaDA website at www.direct.gov.uk/danceanddrama.
Contact Charitable Trusts
Some charitable trusts have helped finance students in the past. A directory listing the various grant making trusts and charities should be available at your local library.
